Roofline lighting

The outline that makes a house look like a holiday card

Roofline lighting is the foundation of nearly every display we install. A line of big, bright C9 bulbs that follows the architecture, every eave, every gable, every return, turns a house into a silhouette you can see from blocks away. Done right, it is elegant on a brick ranch and spectacular on a six-gable two-story.

Done right is the key. We measure each run and cut the light line to that exact length, so bulbs are evenly spaced from corner to corner with no gaps, no overlaps and no bunching. Lines attach with clips made for your roof edge, shingle, gutter, metal drip edge or ridge cap, and never with staples or nails. Power is routed discreetly to timers so the display comes on at dusk and off when you choose.

Eaves only, or everything?

The two most common roofline designs are the eave outline, a clean line along the lower edge of the roof, and the full outline, which adds every gable peak, dormer and ridge. On a ranch, the eave outline is usually all the home needs. On a two-story with multiple front gables, the full outline is what makes the architecture pop. We walk you through both on the design visit and show you where each line will run.

Why C9 LED bulbs

C9 is the large, cone-shaped bulb you see on the best-lit homes in every Central Illinois subdivision. Our LED C9s are faceted for sparkle, draw about a tenth of the power of old incandescents, stay cool to the touch, and are rated for years of Illinois winters. Bulbs are individually replaceable, so maintenance means swapping one bulb, not a whole strand. Available in warm white, cool white, red, green, blue, orange, purple and multicolor, in any pattern.

What Central Illinois homeowners say

4.9 stars on Google

  • Our lights were amazing. Lights were done quickly and efficiently. When the season was over he was back to take them down just when he said he would. We have had him put our lights up for several years and will continue to! Highly recommended.

  • We just had our lights installed by Midwest Holiday Lighting on Thanksgiving day. We just called them and let them know we would like them to do our light install and they worked us in quickly. They were very friendly, knowledgeable, courteous, and patient. We love the holiday lighting they installed on our house and will use them for years to come. They provided all the materials, completed the install quickly, and will store the lights for us during the off season. I added the wreath last minute and they had all the supplies to install it. We could not be happier with Tom and his crew and the job they did installing our lights. Thank You Midwest Holiday Lighting for making our holidays feel more merry and our home look brighter! Enjoy!

  • Tom is honest and hardworking, you won't find better out there!

FAQ

Roofline lighting questions

See all questions
Will roofline lights damage my shingles or gutters?
No. Our clips grip the shingle edge or gutter lip without fasteners, and everything comes off clean in January.
How are the lights powered?
From exterior outlets, through discreetly routed heavy-gauge cords to timers. LED C9s draw so little power that most homes run the whole display on one or two circuits.
Can you do my roof peaks if they are very tall?
Yes. We carry standoff ladders and use lifts when needed for two-and-a-half story gables.
What colors are available?
Warm white, cool white, red, green, blue, orange, purple, pink and classic multicolor, in any pattern, including alternating pairs and team colors.
